Transferring some files...

I started transferring some files from my geocities account to another host. Hope this would ease the traffic to my geocities account and would permit more people to download the files...

Having difficulty downloading files on this site?

I know people are having difficulty downloading files from this site. My download files are hosted in geocities which has a data transfer limit of 4.2MB per hour:

"Site temporarily unavailable. Data transfer limit exceeded...
Times site unavailable: 11 today 36 this month
Page views refused: 526 today 1283 this month "

So, i'm planning of transferring them on another server. Please be patient guys, just keep on trying to download until you can for the meantime... Thanks for your support. :-)

Playlist Manager Beta2.0 (now WM5.0 compatible)

I've just rewritten Playlist Manager SP in order to make it compatible with WM5 Smartphone devices.

It seems that most Smartphone manufacturers are using WM5.0 as the standard OS, that's why I decided to rewrite my applications and games to be compatible to the new OS. And, I've rewritten Playlist Manager first.

See this link to dowload/view details of the beta version which expires March 2006.

gStart

Description:
A Start Menu replacement for Smartphone SP2003/2003 SE devices similar to the grid-style Start Menu of WM5.0 Smartphones, with more options for customization.
Requirements: SP 2003/2003 SE (176x220 and QVGA)
Last updated: October 18, 2005

Get the feel of WM5.0 grid-style Start Menu on your Smartphone SP 2003/2003 SE devices! You have the option to make gStart as your default Start application.

This is quite a programming task for me, considering the many limitations of VS.net 2003 on mobile device programming. I particularly had a difficulty in getting the handle and displaying program icons using .net compact framework. But hey, patience and perseverance pays! (and a lot of sleepless nights...) [=)]

I was really overwhelmed with the popularity of this application. I received a lot of emails requesting versions of this app in Deutsche, Nederlands, Italiano, and Español. With the help of some friends on the translations, I was able to add language packs.

How to install? Download the cab file below and install on your device. Next, download a language pack and install. Re-start gStart to see changes on the language.

  • Download gStart (209 kb)
  • Download English language pack (1 kb)
  • Download Deutshce language pack (1 kb)
  • Download Italiano language pack (1 kb)
  • Download Nederlands language pack (1 kb)
  • Download Español language pack (1 kb)
  • SmartPairs

    Description:
The classic "card match" game on your Smartphone... with a twist! (See the animations )
    Requirements: SP 2003/2003 SE (176x220 and QVGA)/WM5.0
    Last updated: July 2005

This game was suggested by Rey Vegafria of www.airfagev.com (the site wherein all my freeware apps were released. hehe.) That was the time when I was practicing graphics programming using VB.net. I knew the game is simple to play, and simple to program, so I added a twist... and made the icons animated! Now, that's a challenge for .NETCF programmers.

I also designed the program to be "universal" in the sense that any device having the .net framework would make it run. So I even added mouse_click support so it could be played using a PPC or even a PC! As long as the device has .net framework, it will run...

    [Note: Tested on XDAII/XDA Mini/Tornado(SP WM5)]

Try it and see how the animations make this simple game even more exciting. The game looks even better with QVGA devices.

  • Download SmartPairs (445kb) - .cab file for Smartphones 2003 up (including WM5)

  • Download SmartPairs (445kb) - .zip file containing .exe file which can be run on any device with .net framework such as SP and PPC. Just copy the exe file to your device and run.
  • Tangram SP2003

    Description:
Tangram is an ancient Chinese puzzle game which uses 7 geometric pieces that forms a square. From these 7 puzzle pieces, several geometric shapes can be formed. All that is required is a little imagination!
    Requirements: SP 2003/2003 SE
    Last updated: June 2005

This game was my second try in coming up with a game for the Smartphone.

I saw my niece playing with her Tangram pieces made of plastic. I borrowed it and tried solving a few puzzles. And I thought it was really challenging. So, I decided to make a puzzle game like it for the Smartphone. I soon discovered that designing the application for the Smartphone was even more a challenge! I had to review Geometry and Trigonometry. It took me a couple of sleepness nights learning how-to's such as, how do I know if a point is inside or within the perimeter of a polygon, how to do I know if a polygon is inside or intersects another polygon, how do I compare polygons (how do I know if the puzzle is solved!), rotation, translation, union, etc... Mathematics is about 75 per cent of the programming... It wasn't as easy as I thought!

Anyways, I was able to figure out all the Mathematics, surfed the net for Tangram puzzles to solve, and I came up with 99 puzzles included in the Tangram SP version. I'll be adding more soon...

Try this game and see how many out of the 99 puzzles included you can solve.

    Xtrail Beta

    Description:
The object of the game is to stay "alive" as long as possible, forcing the opponent to crash along the walls or the "trails" you and your opponent create as you both move around the game board.
    Requirements: SP 2003/2003 SE
    Last updated: May 5, 2005

This is my first try in writing a game for the Smartphone using VB.net CF. I wrote this app when i was learning how to handle graphics using .net. It's crude and simple, but hey, I enjoyed doing this game; moreso, playing it! =)

I based this game to a game I used to play in grade school. I watched this really cool movie, Tron, which was quite a hit in my school. A few electronic games based on that movie came out, and I got one for Christmas! :-D ('Twas a long time ago... hehe)

Anyways, i released this as a beta thinking that I may soon be able to enhance it if a number of Smartphone users would appreciate it. But, I haven't got many feedbacks re this, so I opted to scratch the project... and think of something else. =)

I really think this game is cool, and a lot better than Snake (no offense hehe.) Try it and see for yourself...

Note: Original app was written using eVB for Smartphones (hack by John Cody -
www.omnisoft.com), both for SP2002 and SP2003. When I shifted to .netCF programming, I rewrote the app using VB.net

Cool Playlist Manager for Smartphone 2002/2003/2003 SE.

Windows Media Player for Smartphones doesn't have a built-in feature of creating playlists. One option is to create a playlist by means of some available utilities using the PC. But, wouldn't it be cool to be able to create your playlists directly on your Smartphones? :-)

    Download Playlist Manager SP:

    NEW:

  • SP 2003/2003 SE/WM5 QVGA compatible (.net version) (61kb)

  • PPC version (2003/2003 SE/WM5) (.net version) (141kb)

  • OLDER FILES:
  • Beta 2.0 (WM5 compatible) (48kb)
  • SP 2003/2003 SE (.net version) (35kb)

    SmartScheme

    Description:
SmartScheme is a color scheme maker and color scheme editor that you can use directly on your Smartphone SP 2003 / 2003 SE devices.
    Requirements: SP 2003/2003 SE
    Last updated: 2003

Note: This is the first Smartphone application i ever released. This app is written using eVB for Smartphones (hack by John Cody - www.omnisoft.com).

Ever downloaded a cool homescreen but didn’t really like the color scheme used or probably would like to edit a particular color attribute? Normally you would edit the home.xml file using a text editor in your PC or Smartphone. And in editing, you would have to know the Hex values of the specific color you would like to use… quite a task! Alternatively, you can create your own color scheme, again using a text editor or any available PC utility on creating a color scheme such as Theme Generator. But, you need a PC for this.

SmartScheme 2003 is a color scheme maker and color scheme editor that you can use directly use on your Smartphone SP 2003 devices. Choosing a specific color is simplified via a built-in palette, or advanced users can just specify the RGB components of the colors they want to use. Moreover, you can directly edit the color scheme of downloaded homecreens, and even EXPORT the color scheme to a color scheme file.

You can use the color schemes created using this utility by choosing Start > Settings > Home Screen > Color Scheme.

    Start of "weblogging"

    Today I start this weblog...

I plan to include here all applications and games I have ever written for Smartphones.

I started writing programs for the smartphone platform in September 2003, the time I got hold of my first Windows Mobile device -- an HTC Tanager.

Moreover, I'll be posting here all the tips and tricks I have learned along the way from programming using Embedded Visual Tools to using the Visual Studio.net, and hopefully, other developers might learn something from it.

Nonetheless, posts here will not be limited to programming smartphones, but also will include some tips, tricks, hacks, and what-have-you, which i have gathered from different sites.

Now, I have a little more than two years of backlog in documenting these things! But hey, if i got the time, i might be able to update this blog before the year ends... hopefully!
